Seven Questions To Ask Before You Purchase an Essential Oil
There is a substantial difference between an essential oil that is produced for how it smells, and an oil that is
therapeutic grade.
Before you purchase your products, ask the following questions:
1. How is the plant grown? Is the soil nutrient rich, is the harvest timed for optimal plant constituents?
2. Are the plants free of chemicals and pesticides?
3. Do the plants get distilled within a short time after being harvested?
4. Is only pure water used in the distillers with no chlorine or other chemical additives?
5. Are there no additives or derivatives included in the finished product?
6. Is the finished product able to be used internally if it is GRAS (such as peppermint or rosemary)?
7. Is the finished product tested to insure that the optimal key components and potency have been retained throughout processing?
Most importantly, if an essential oil is going to deliver the healing benefits of the underlying plant, the entire process from planting the seeds to bottling the product must be done in a manner consistent with nature's healing intention.
